Hi, I’m Stephanie. I have a hard time writing about myself in the third person, so, if it’s ok with you, I’m just going to tell you a little about myself as if we were having coffee together. I am a wife, mother, closet Reese cup-lover (ok, now it’s out), and, most importantly, Christ-follower. I absolutely love children’s ministry because I get to show kids how EXCITING the Bible really is – not just a collection of old stories, but one BIG story, full of mystery, action, excitement, love, and – most importantly - hope. I just love getting to tell those stories as they were meant to be told!
Now, if we were really having coffee together, I’d probably have to stop for a minute right now and take a kid to the bathroom because, well, I have five of them, and someone always has to go to the bathroom. I absolutely love and enjoy my kids more than words can say and wouldn’t trade any one of them for all the tea in china (some days, though, for all the coffee in Brazil…), but I also know families need help along this crazy road. We need a community of people rallying behind us and our children – a community filled with positive role models for our kids who will help reinforce the character qualities we want them to embody as adults; a community filled with encouragers, who urge us to “keep on” when we are too weary and exhausted at the end of the day to correct one more kid’s behavior or make one more chicken nugget (oh great, now that’s out of the bag too); and a community filled with “real people,” who are more concerned with walking alongside each other than putting on a show for each other. The truth is, God created us for fellowship, and we need to grab it by the reins! Whether you have children or not, I hope you will recognize the important role you can play in this community!
I suppose one other thing you should know about me is that I am not super-woman. I am humbled every day by the grace of our Lord, Jesus, and my desperate need for Him. I am, however, dedicated to the service of my God, my family, and my church. I am amazed at the incredible things I have been privileged to witness because of that.
I hope you will come visit me some Sunday and we can share some real “coffee talk.” I’ll pretend your crazy life is normal if you’ll do the same for me. :-)
